With a string of self-released EPs under his belt, Jupi/ter brings his most crucial work yet in the form of Islands, Pt. 1. A sonic painting in muted colours, Islands sets in motion a variety of sounds as if paint on a canvas. Space, or distance, is the focus by which incoming motifs can congregate, and attention is paid more to the absence of the tangible, than to any one idea.

In so doing, Islands, Pt. 1 begins to tell the story of interconnectedness. It listens to the sea that separates the islands, and places the two as equals. From the vast to the microscopic, what sounds might be encountered in the space between us as human beings?

Forms arise, connect and pass at their own volition, with or without interaction, and with them comes a natural harmony unimpeded by structure. A sense of adventure, of non-directionality, is key when faced with the uncertain and the unfamiliar. The sea that separates us is just as much part of the story.
